Our Farm
The farm consists of many animals including: 2 horses, a mini dwarf horse, 2 miniature donkeys, dozens of sheep, mini goats, many chickens and ducks as well. Driving up the winding driveway onto the property, you may find yourself driving through the flock of their beautiful, diversely colored, free-roaming sheep!
Our Animals
Horses
Beau – Buckskin AQHA Registered Gelding, from 2014. Beau is a beauty, and so well trained and desensitized, that he is the absolute perfect riding horse! Safe, sweet, a big lover, he is just a handsome big hunk of horse! He loves riding with us, and working with guests who come to the farm.
Bear – Bay Quarter horse/Gypsy Vanner cross Gelding, from 2017. Bear is only seven, but he’s incredibly well trained, quiet, and easy! His slow walk and ultra loving personality make him a perfect match for our family to ride and enjoy, and for working with guests who come to the farm as well!
Miniature Donkeys
Quimby – Mini Jerusalem Donkey Jenny, from around 2020. Quimby came to me from a friend who could no longer care for her. We introduced her to a boyfriend for a while and the following year, she gave us her son, sweet little Dixon! These two are inseparable and as happy as can be. Friendly, easy to pet, handle, and love on, they are truly the perfect equines!
Dixon – Mini Jerusalem Donkey Gelding, from 2020. Born to Mamma Quimby, Katherine joyfully got to catch this little sweet guy when he was born! Dixon and his mamma are inseparable and as happy as can be.
Miniature Dwarf Horse
Pearl – Gray and white Mini Dwarf Horse, from 2020. Pearl just steals everyone’s hearts! She is the tiniest little equine you can imagine! She is sweet, friendly, and loves everyone! She is the perfect little sidekick for our family, whether she is running around the backyard with the four dogs (she’s the same size as most of them!), or perusing the pastures with the donkeys and big horses. She is happy wearing her little unicorn horn for play dates, and loves scratches!
Goats
Petal – White and black Nigerian Dwarf/Pygmy cross goat Doe, from 2018. Petal and Petunia are twin sisters though Petal strongly resembles the Nigerian Dwarf side of their cross.
Petunia – Brown and black Nigerian Dwarf/Pygmy cross goat Doe, from 2018. Petal and Petunia are twin sisters though Petunia resembles the Pygmy side.
They lost their mother at only a few days of age, and lived in our home for months, bottle fed round the clock under a heat lamp until they found their spunky will to live! They rule the barnyard, and really the farm. They use their horns to push around the sheep, even if they’re 4 times their size! They are confident and friendly, they’ve never met a person that they didn’t consider to be a friend. (Just hold on to your hammers, clothing, etc, they like to borrow things!)
Ducks
We have a few free-roaming ducks that wander around the property, enjoy our stream and leave us eggs occasionally.
Chickens
We have about a dozen chickens that provide us with fresh eggs daily and enjoy the freedom of our property.
Sheep
The sheep are a very special part of our farm here at Shepherd’s Knoll Farm. Katherine is in LOVE with them. Well, she’s in love with all of the animals, we all love our animals as family members. Katherine is OBSESSED with the sheep! They provide our family a constantly changing, picturesque scene, as they move about the front yard, the driveway, and anywhere they choose to freely roam during the day! They are beautiful with their different sizes and colors. They all have names, and we know their family stories, they are simply beloved! Once a year, we have a shearer come shear them all, and Katherine uses the wool to spin and make gifts for friends and family. Some of the fleeces are available for sale, so you can schedule an appointment to come fall in love, and hopefully be able to purchase the wool from your favorite sheep!

White Shetland Ewe, from around 2013. I got her from a good farmer friend who sold sheep for meet, but described Amelia as “beautiful”. She needed treatment for an eye infection, and after a week or so of our lacrosse playing boys and their friends chasing her around to try to treat the eye, and nearly jumping fences, she was out in the pasture one day before delivering her beautiful daughter Gwynn. We had no idea she was even pregnant! Mother of Gwynn, Daisy Jane, and Aurthur, she observes people from her best eye, making her suspicious nature, even more suspicious looking! Her children ignored this are are extremely friendly. She and Gwynn are the picture of our Logo!

After intensive bottle feeding to over protect him, he managed to catch his mouth on a clasp in the barn and injured his mouth leaving him disfigured. Following more intensive bottle feeding, and over pampering, he is healthy, happy , and thriving! Katherine has one tattoo, and it is of this sweet little boy on her arm! A little survivor, and sweet angel!
