Events
We host several events per year to help those who need us most.

Spin-In
Sat May 31st, 2025
9am – 12pm
Sheep Shed returns to Katherine Jansen’s Shepherd’s Knoll Farm in Woodstock, IL!
Attendees will enjoy face-to-face interactions with pet fiber sheep who roam the property freely.
Sit quietly on a meditation rock and see which sheep chooses you! It has been a busy lambing season at Shepherd’s Knoll, so there will be little fiber seeds bouncing around too!
Attendees will make their seating location choice when arriving on-site. Seating areas include the Arena Viewing Room, the Tack Room, the Horse Barn (exceptionally clean), and anywhere outside. Folding chairs and a variety of other types of chairs are provided in each space. If you have a favorite personal spinning chair, feel free to bring it with you. Shepherd’s Knoll Farm has generous space for everyone.
Bring a sack lunch, beverage and your spinning supplies.
Please RSVP so we can provide a head-count to our host, Katherine. Check back frequently for additional details and updates. We can’t wait to see you again at this wonderful farm!
[Because Shepherd’s Knoll is an active farm and personal residence of the Jansen family, this event is only open to friends of Sheep Shed and their friends in the spinning community (not general public).]
Equine Half Day Retreat
Sat June 7th, 2025
9am – 12pm
(Fully Booked)
Join us for an uplifting session where we’ll focus on deepening gratitude in our daily lives. Every time you experience gratitude, you cultivate a more positive mindset and invite even more blessings into your life.
Counting your blessings and practicing gratitude is essential because it shifts your focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant in your life. It cultivates a mindset of appreciation, helping you recognize the good—both big and small—that already exists.
The impact of gratitude is profound. It enhances emotional well-being by fostering a sense of contentment and reducing negative emotions like stress, anxiety, and resentment. When you regularly acknowledge what you’re grateful for, you naturally feel more positive, hopeful, and resilient in the face of challenges.
Gratitude also strengthens relationships. Expressing appreciation to others deepens connections, improves communication, and fosters a sense of mutual support. People are drawn to those who radiate gratitude because it creates an uplifting energy.
On a deeper level, gratitude is a powerful tool for spiritual growth. It grounds you in the present moment, helping you feel more aligned with life’s flow rather than resisting it. It also cultivates humility and a sense of interconnectedness, reminding you that life is full of gifts, even in difficult times.
Ultimately, practicing gratitude isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about transforming your perspective, increasing joy, and inviting more abundance into your life. When you count your blessings, you create a life that feels rich, meaningful, and fulfilling.
Let’s come together to shift our perspective and move forward with hearts open to the good around us!
Join us in self exploration and the beautiful, healing, illuminating presence of horses and sheep that show unconditional love at Shepherd’s Knoll Farm, Woodstock, IL.
You will be working directly and in close contact with sheep and horses.
